General
How is Alethe different from ChatGPT or a single chatbot?
A single chatbot gives you one model's answer, stated with the same confidence whether it's right or wrong. Alethe puts several top models in one conversation on the same question, so weak arguments get challenged in real time and what you're left with is the reasoning that held up, not just what one model said first.
Which AI models take part in a debate?
Depending on your plan, Alethe draws on leading models from OpenAI (GPT), Anthropic (Claude), Google (Gemini), DeepSeek, xAI (Grok), Meta (Llama), Qwen and Mistral. Models are organized in tiers; higher plans unlock the more capable ones. The AI models page lists the current lineup.
What is the agreement score?
It's a live measure of how much the models are converging as they talk. A high score means they're broadly reaching the same conclusion; a low score flags a genuinely contested question, where it's worth reading the opposing arguments yourself.
Do I need an account to read the docs?
No. Documentation is public. You only need to sign in to run a debate.
Plans & billing
Is Alethe free?
Yes, the Free plan costs nothing and needs no credit card. It's enough to run real debates with a couple of models. Pro ($20/month) and Apex ($150/month) unlock more models, higher monthly token allowances and advanced features. Annual billing saves 20%.
What do Pro and Apex add?
Higher plans widen the roster of models a debate can use, raise your monthly token allowance, and unlock features such as more specialized modes, the Custom prompt, the living document and BYOK. The pricing page shows the exact allowance for each plan.
What happens if I hit my monthly limit?
Debates pause until your quota resets at the start of the next cycle, or you can upgrade for a higher allowance. You'll see your usage before you run out, and bringing your own API key (BYOK) is another way to keep going.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Paid plans are month-to-month (or annual if you chose the discounted yearly option) and can be cancelled at any time from your account settings.
Models & BYOK
What is BYOK?
BYOK('bring your own key')lets you connect your own OpenRouter API key (available from the Pro plan). Debates then run on your OpenRouter account, which bypasses your monthly token quota and is handy if you already have credits or want unlimited usage.
Is my key safe?
Yes. Your OpenRouter key is encrypted before it's stored, is never shown back to you in full, and is never exposed to your browser. It's used only to make the model calls you trigger.
Data & privacy
Who can see my debates?
By default your debates are private to your account and appear only in your own history. Public discovery (the Explore page) only shows debates that have been made explicitly public.
Can I attach files or use my voice?
Yes. You can upload files to ground a debate in your own documents, and dictate your question by voice instead of typing.
Can I pick an old debate back up?
Yes. Open any past debate from the sidebar and the models resume right where they left off, with the full history in context, so you can keep steering the same conversation whenever you want.
